My name is Gabriel Panaiet, I am a new media designer born in Romania, currently residing in London, UK.
I had my first hands-on experience with design about 9 years ago, when I designed my first personal website. Granted, it wasn’t a masterpiece, but it was the start of what turned out to be more than a passion. Design has slowly but surely crept up into the bed of my life and has been pulling the covers off me to claim them for it with increasing nonchalance, leaving me to sleep shivering in the blue chill of the night.
Yeah, so I guess that’s not exactly the best possible way to describe it, but you know, it’s a complicated relationship.
I’ve started as a web designer originally, but as time passed, I found myself wanting to move away from the digital media and use pencil and paper more and more. This has had a very beneficial effect on all of my projects, as I was able to find better design solutions by creating them on paper first, than I would have if I would have used just the mouse or tablet.
Cliché as it may sound, I find that drawing with a pencil on a piece of paper, erasing when you’re not satisfied, blowing away the eraser dust, it all takes me closer to the process of creation — and that can only be a good thing.
I also have a love for the outdoors, especially the mountains and their forests. I love winter and snowboarding and I am guilty of constantly dreaming I am riding — it’s the greatest feeling in the world for me. I love hiking and exploring, photographing the landscapes I come across and I will say this: if I had a bucket list, the first 10 or so items on it would be seeing some of the world’s greatest views (Angel Falls, Mount Everest, Petra, Macchu Picchu etc.).
My hopes for the future are to keep progressing and learning while doing what I love.
